We already knew the basics of the deal, but new details reveal One Bills Drive’s commitment to White in 2025.
The Buffalo Bills made a move that brings a familiar face back to the secondary, signing cornerback Tre’Davious White to a one-year, $3 million contract for the 2025 season. This move minimally provides the Bills with veteran depth and leadership, both of which are needed in a rebuilding secondary, while also giving White a chance to prove he’s still a good cornerback following multiple injury-plagued seasons.
White, now 30 years old, was originally selected by then-first-year head coach Sean McDermott and Bills with the 27th overall pick in Round 1 of the 2017 NFL Draft. He quickly emerged as a fan favorite and earned All-Pro honors and a Pro Bowl nod in 2019. However, in recent seasons White has been plagued by injuries, including a torn ACL in 2021, starting the season on PUP in 2022, and an Achilles tear early in the 2023 season. That list has raised several questions about his health and durability moving forward.
White’s deal is structured to minimize risk for the Bills while rewarding him if able to remain on the field:

Incentives
As mentioned above, the deal is structured to minimize risk for the Bills while rewarding White if he can stay healthy, available, and on the field. There are Not Likely to Be Earned incentives (NLTBE) for White to earn up to $3.8 Million. Any amount of the NLTBE incentives earned would hit Buffalo’s 2026 salary cap.
Performance and Outlook
White hasn’t played a full season since 2020, but when healthy, his presence significantly elevated the Bills’ secondary. He started the 2024 season with the Los Angeles Rams before being traded to the Baltimore Ravens to end the season.
If he can stay healthy, White’s return could be a savvy cap-conscious move for Buffalo, especially given the team’s limited financial flexibility and the need for experienced and affordable talent in the secondary. This deal brings with it a skeptical but hopeful return for one of Bills Mafia’s all-time favorite defensive players.
