Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski may find himself unemployed after Sunday’s season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Browns enter the final regular-season game with a 4-12 record. They’ve clinched a second straight losing season and a fourth non-playoff campaign in five years. Though he’s won NFL Coach of the Year honors twice (2020 and 2023), it appears that Kevin Stefanski’s time in Cleveland is up.

According to a report from The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, Cleveland is “leaning toward” a coaching change. However, it appears that general manager Andrew Berry will get a seventh year:

The Cleveland Browns have done some background work to gather information on potential head-coaching options, and are leaning toward moving on from two-time Coach of the Year Kevin Stefanski. With the success of EVP and general manager Andrew Berry’s most recent draft, he’s likely to stay, but those discussions are ongoing heading into Cleveland’s final game at the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. The Browns are 4-12 after finishing 3-14 in 2024.

The Browns’ main storylines in 2025 have been the game of musical chairs at QB, and the success of the rookie class. Joe Flacco started the first four games before getting traded to the Bengals.

Dillon Gabriel started six games before a concussion forced the team to turn to Shedeur Sanders. The latter has displayed mixed results, but has also shown some flashes with seven touchdown passes.

Kevin Stefanski Wouldn’t Be Out Of A Job For Long

If the Browns fire Stefanski, his agent can expect plenty of calls in a short period. Stefanski probably won’t get an interview for an HC position, but Stefanski should draw lots of interest for offensive coordinator openings.

He got the most out of Kirk Cousins as the Minnesota Vikings’ OC in 2019. Stefanski led Cleveland to its first playoff win in 26 years in 2020. He got Cleveland to the playoffs with a 38-year-old Flacco in 2023.

For now, Stefanski and the Browns have to stay focused on Cincinnati.
