We’re more than a quarter of the way through the season, and while the usual suspects are struggling — hello New York Giants and Jets — there are teams who have surprisingly floundered, like the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals. As teams look to acquire assets for the future while others build to contend for the Super Bowl, here are the top 11 trade candidates ahead of the Nov. 4 deadline.
The Russell Wilson era with the Giants ended after three games, so there’s really no reason to keep the veteran quarterback around. Wilson can still help other teams that need a reliable backup or spot starter, and all teams would have to do is give up a Day 3 pick for him. The Giants should be shopping him to every QB-needy team prior to the Nov. 4 trade deadline.
The biggest defensive name on the list is Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson, who was in a contract dispute with the franchise for several months this offseason before agreeing to a revised one-year, $30 million deal. The eight-year veteran has emerged as one of the best pass rushers in the league over the last several years, with back-to-back 17.5-sack seasons, four straight Pro Bowl appearances and a first-team All-Pro nod in 2024. With the Bengals floundering at 2-3 and Joe Burrow out until at least December, the season is circling the drain. Hendrickson is an impending unrestricted free agent, and it would behoove Cincinnati to acquire draft assets ahead of the deadline.
The New Orleans Saints are going nowhere fast at 1-4 and as they attempt another rebuild. Running back Alvin Kamara could help them acquire assets to accelerate the process. Kamara has 283 rushing yards on 73 carries and a touchdown. He signed a two-year, $24.5 million extension in October 2024 that keeps him under contract through 2026. Kamara is owed a base salary of $11.5 million next year.
It’s been a brutal start to the season for the 1-4 Las Vegas Raiders as the year appears already lost. Teams will surely inquire about wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, who requested a trade during the offseason after failing to agree to a new deal. Meyers, who is a free agent after the season, has 25 catches for 290 yards and no touchdowns in five games.
With future Hall of Famer Cameron Jordan nearing the end of his career, the Saints can do right by him by sending him to a Super Bowl contender so he can win his first championship. Jordan has 2.5 sacks this season to go along with four tackles for loss and five quarterback hits. The three-time All-Pro and eight-time Pro Bowler ranks 65th out of 165 edge rushers by Pro Football Focus and seventh overall with a superb 80.3 run defense grade. He’s playing on a one-year, $6.05 million contract.
