Out of these 12 options, who do you think Green Bay would take with their top draft choice?

ESPN has dropped its Draft Day Predictor, which attempts to assign an accurate percentage chance players will be available or taken by the time a team is on the clock in the first round. With assistance from these numbers, along with the consensus draft board, let’s use this final week before the first day of the 2024 NFL Draft kicks off to rank prospects who realistically might be around for the Green Bay Packers with the 25th overall pick.

First of all, I’m going to exclude quarterbacks, receivers and tight ends from the discussion, as the Packers seem to be set at those positions. Excluding those positions, here are the players that ESPN claims will have a less than 10 percent chance to be available for Green Bay in the first round:

  • Joe Alt, OL, Notre Dame (#9 on the consensus draft board)
  • Taliese Fuaga, OL, Oregon State (#14)
  • Olu Fashanu, OL, Penn State (#15)
  • JC Latham, OL, Alabama (#21)
  • Byron Murphy, DL, Texas (#17)
  • Dallas Turner, EDGE, Alabama (#8)
  • Jared Verse, EDGE, Florida State (#13)
  • Terron Arnold, CB, Alabama (#11)
  • Quinton Mitchell, CB, Toledo (#12)

So who is left for the Packers to take? The list of names below are the players who ESPN believes are in the mix at 25. Generally, you’re looking at offensive line prospects and cornerbacks with a few defensive linemen mixed in.

  • Troy Fautanu, OL, Washington (#19)
  • Amarius Mims, OL, Georgia (#23)
  • Graham Barton, OL, Duke (#27)
  • Jackson Powers-Johnson, OL, Oregon (#29)
  • Tyler Guyton, OL, Oklahoma (#30)
  • JerZhan Newton, DL, Illinois (#25)
  • Laiatu Latu, EDGE, UCLA (#16)
  • Chop Robinson, EDGE, Penn State (#28)
  • Darius Robinson, EDGE, Missouri (#35)
  • Cooper DeJean, DB, Iowa (#20)
  • Nate Wiggins, CB, Clemson (#22)
  • Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB, Alabama (#24)

So who would you take, if that’s how the board actually shakes out on draft day? Vote below.

Personally, I think this boils down to a group of four players. Three of them are offensive linemen, Troy Fautanu, Amarius Mims and Graham Barton, who all have a tackle background. As we’ve written about extensively here at APC, that’s a huge tell for who the Packers might select at the position.

Mims is a true right tackle, but Fautanu and Barton are both left tackles who could play at any of the five positions on the offensive line. ESPN’s Rob Demovsky recently reported that the Packers think that right tackle Zach Tom could be a Hall of Fame center, which considering Josh Myers’ expiring contract may move the needle. If the Packers really do want a right tackle, Mims would be an easy player to plug in. If they want another Tom-like player, though, Fautanu and Barton are options.

The final player I want to mention from this group is Iowa defensive back...
