The Buffalo Bills signed defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis to their 53-man roster on Wednesday, November 5. The team had placed defensive end Michael Hoecht on Injured Reserve (IR) due to a torn Achilles tendon, thereby opening a roster spot for Mathis.
Mathis, 27, was a second-round pick of the Washington Commanders in the 2022 NFL Draft. He spent three years in the Nation’s Capital, totaling 25 tackles, two tackles for loss, and a pass knockdown in 23 games. He signed with Buffalo’s practice squad on September 10 after having spent the offseason with the New York Jets.
Mathis was elevated...

Throughout the 2025 NFL season, SB Nation’s Doug Farrar will write about the game’s Secret Superstars — those players whose performances might slip under the radar for whatever reasons. In this installment, we focus on Cole Bishop, the Bills’ second-year safety who had the best game of his NFL career against Buffalo’s bete noire — Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.
Sunday’s matchup between the Bills and the Chiefs was among the Games of the Year as it is in most regular seasons, and the 28-21 result, which had Patrick Mahomes hurling a possible tie-making pass into the end zone with...

The NFL trade deadline came and went without the Buffalo Bills adding any reinforcements for the stretch run of a season centered around Super Bowl aspirations.
While general manager Brandon Beane has built a reputation as a wheeler and dealer, Tuesday marked the first NFL trade deadline since 2021 that Big Baller Beane didn’t go out and acquire any players to solidify the Bills’ roster needs.
Today’s edition of Buffalo Rumblinks leads off by examining how Beane, by standing pat at the deadline, feels confident that the Bills have enough talent (as their roster is currently constructed) to win the...

For the Buffalo Bills in 2025, it’s season of an NFL trade deadline that wasn’t. The more one dives into Why it’s okay Buffalo stayed put
Going into the season many fans were upset at the lack of additional resources poured into Buffalo’s wide receiver core, and through eight games those fans seem justified. The team’s leading receiver in yards and touchdowns is tight end Dalton Kincaid, and he’s currently on pace for 998 yards having not played in all eight of the team’s games.
Some fans were also miffed that the team was reluctant to upgrade the safety room...

The Buffalo Bills won an important Week 9 game. They had a very decisive victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, but it came at a cost. As Week 10’s practices opened on Wednesday, the Bills’ injury report had an awful lot of DNPs on it. That’s not good news as they need another division win over the Miami Dolphins this week.
Among those not practicing on Wednesday were nickel cornerback Taron Johnson, defensive tackle DaQuan Jones, and linebacker Shaq Thompson. No one really expected any of them to practice as they’re dealing with lingering injuries. And, of course,...

The Buffalo Bills were rumored to be close in finalizing a trade deal for wide receiver Calvin Ridley, but it’s assumed negotiations with the Tennessee Titans fell through at the 2025 NFL trade deadline. It’s an interesting development, if true.
It would also have been an exceedingly difficult financial situation for general manager Brandon Beane to maneuver and fit into Buffalo’s current salary cap situation. The 30-year-old Ridley signed a four-year, $92 million ($50 million guaranteed) free-agent contract with the Titans in March of 2024. Now in the second year of that deal, Ridley’s cap hit for 2025 is just...

When stat scouring the Buffalo Bills’ Week 9 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, there was a lot of clamor regarding quarterback Patrick Mahomes having his first sub-50% completion rate of his career (44%). Mahomes completed a scant 15 passes on 34 attempts. Josh Allen on the other hand set a Bills franchise record for completion percentage, doubling Mahomes with 88% with 23 completions on 26 attempts. It gets even weirder than that though.
Despite completing over 50% more passes than Mahomes (23 vs. 15), Josh Allen only had 23 more yards than Patrick Mahomes. That’s right, the passing volume...

The Buffalo Bills may not have made any moves at the 2025 NFL trade deadline, but they did make some transactions relating to their practice squad on Tuesday. The Bills announced that they released two players from the practice squad: linebacker Jimmy Ciarlo and wide receiver Kristian Wilkerson.
Ciarlo, 24, has appeared in one game this season, playing 13 special teams snaps after being signed to the 53-man roster from the practice squad before Buffalo’s 23-20 loss to the New England Patriots. He did not appear on the stat sheet aside from those snaps played. Buffalo waived Ciarlo on October...

When all was said and done, the Buffalo Bills were window shoppers from the sideline as the 2025 NFL trade deadline passed. That doesn’t mean general manager Brandon Beane and One Bills Drive sat idle. Reports and rumors leading up to the 4 p.m. EST deadline on November 4 had Buffalo in talks with the Washington Commanders for a pair of household names.
Were the Bills really trying to bring back edge rusher Von Miller? Was a potential deal in place for wide receiver Deebo Samuel? The merits of a reunion with the 36-year-old Miller can and will be debated...

Buffalo Bills general manager has pulled off plenty of moves at the NFL trade deadline in the past. We will see if he makes another move today.
Here we will collect all the Bills-related rumors and information as we approach the 4 p.m. Eastern deadline and beyond. Stay tuned!
The Buffalo Bills have some space to play with at the NFL trade deadline after restructuring Taron Johnson. With about $3 million, they can add one player outright and maybe two if they are low enough on the base...

The Buffalo Bills hosted the Kansas City Chiefs and hung on for a hard-fought win this past Sunday. Along the way they had to work through a couple of iffy calls from referee Carl Cheffers and his crew.
Now don’t get wrong as I tend to choose my words carefully. Cheffers didn’t straight up blow any calls, and there’s zero hint of bias in the flags thrown. I’m going to stand by “iffy” though.
I’m going to do something I rarely do up here in standard metrics: Real analysis. This is...

The Buffalo Bills defeated the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, winning 28-21 in their latest regular-season win over their perennial playoff tormentors. Buffalo improved to 5-1 against Kansas City in the regular season since 2020, but they remain 0-4 against those same Chiefs in the postseason during that same span.
For 60 minutes on Sunday, none of that mattered, as the Bills came up with one of their best performances of the 2025 season in a game that they had to have in order to keep pace with the rest of the AFC. With the New England Patriots sneaking out...
