With the signing of Aidan Hutchinson’s four-year, $180 million extension this week, the Detroit Lions now have seven core players locked up through the 2028 season. Here are the recent contract extensions each of them has signed:
While there are certainly some big...

With the bye week now in the rearview mirror, the Detroit Lions are back in action in Week 9, hosting the Minnesota Vikings for the first of their two games this season. To break things down ahead of Sunday, Meko and Morgan (me) are back with another episode of “Before the Roar,” where we discuss each aspect of the upcoming game against Minnesota.
To kick things off, we recap how the Vikings got to their 3-4 record, including the tough Week 8 loss at the hands of the Los Angeles Chargers. Chances are you have already heard about some of...

The Detroit Lions (5-2) and Minnesota Vikings (3-4) will square off in a Week 9 NFC North battle. These rivals are very familiar with one another, and while the Lions are working with two new coordinators, the Vikings have had the same key staff members in place for the past three seasons. Here’s what Lions coach Dan Campbell had to say about the Vikings:
“The Vikings, good divisional opponent. Got a lot of respect for what KOC [Vikings Head Coach Kevin O’Connell] has done out there and that staff and that team. They’ve had a lot of success, have...

With Wednesday’s contract extension for Detroit Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, the team has locked up yet another foundational piece of the organization. The following stars are now signed through the 2028 season: Jared Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Penei Sewell, Jameson Williams, Aidan Hutchinson, Alim McNeill, and Kerby Joseph.
But the Lions’ core of strong players runs much deeper than that. Detroit’s incredible 2023 draft class is eligible for extensions next offseason, and there are a few other players acquired via free agency (ie: D.J. Reader, Marcus Davenport, Amik Robertson, Alex Anzalone) who are on contracts that expire at the...

The Detroit Lions (5-2) and Minnesota Vikings (3-4) will square off in Week 9, and with both teams coming off an extended break—the Lions were on a bye and the Vikings last played on Thursday of Week 8—the practice schedules have been slightly altered this week.
For the Lions, they held practices on Monday and Tuesday, gave players Wednesday off, and will follow that up with two more practices on Thursday and Friday to wrap up the week. Because the first injury report of this week is due out on Wednesday—and the players were not in Allen Park—**this practice report...

The ink is barely dry on the new contract for Aidan Hutchinson that will reportedly keep in him under contract with the Detroit Lions until 2030, yet the team is still receiving a massive amount of praise for the move. Twitter was abuzz with the news, with many local and national analysts congratulating the Lions on being able to fill their team with foundational pieces and coming to agreements with the players to keep them all around long-term.
Here’s just a smattering of reactions to the news that the Lions and Hutchinson have agreed to a four-year, $180 million extension....

Aidan Hutchinson will be a Detroit Lion for the foreseeable future.
Per several reports, the Lions and Hutchinson have agreed upon a four-year extension. As of this publication, details have not emerged on the compensation.
Hutchinson, drafted second overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, has been one of the top players on the team since entering the league. In his rookie season, he tallied 52 tackles, 9.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, and three interceptions—leading him to finish second in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting (behind Sauce Gardner). The next year, he took his game to a new level, earning...

A Detroit Lions team well-known for their tricks spent some time enjoying treats during the bye before getting back to the grind.
Over the years, we’ve seen a few pictures pop up on social media from the squad’s seemingly annual Halloween party. This year, star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown did us a favor and posted a couple dozen pictures of his teammates in costume to his Instagram story. Enjoy!

Watching Monday night’s tilt between the Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers was a little too much for Brian Branch. Serving a one-game suspension for his part in a post-game fight with Chiefs receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, Branch opted not to watch the game at all. It was just too much.
“Watching them would make me miss being out there. That’s something that’s hard,” Branch told media on Tuesday. “I would be eager to get out there.”
Branch apologized again on Tuesday for his actions after the Chiefs game, and said he’s been able to lean on some emotional support to...

Coming off a much-needed bye week, your Detroit Lions are back in action. They’re 5-2 and second in the NFC North, a half a game behind the leading Green Bay Packers. For the first time this year, they take on the Minnesota Vikings, who are in last place in the division at 3-4. The Vikings appear to be getting their starting quarterback back this week, though I’m not sure that can fix all of their woes.
Minnesota is coming off its impressive 14-3 2024 season, just one game short of winning the division after the Lions defeated them in the...

Each week, SB Nation tracks NFL fans’ confidence levels of their favorite teams with their Reacts Surveys posted on their team websites. For Pride of Detroit, we are tasked with gauging Detroit Lions fans’ confidence in the team heading into each game. But this week, we’ve added a second question to the mix:
After a bit of an up-and-down season, last week’s convincing win over the Buccaneers in primetime helped confidence jump back up to 98%. Now,...

Through seven games this season, Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams has not produced the numbers many were expecting. After hitting 1,000 yards last season and having his new offensive coordinator say he’s headed for another breakout year in 2025, Williams has just 17 catches for 289 yards and two touchdowns. That’s on pace for a 702-yard season, almost exactly 300 yards less than last year’s output. Not exactly ideal for a player the Lions gave a three-year, $83 million extension to just two months ago.
Both Williams and the Lions continue to preach optimism and patience. In his media...
