Tampa Bay puts their money into the slots.

The Buccaneers ended their second day of picks with players that can play specific roles on each side of the ball.

With their first pick in Round 3, the Bucs selected defensive back Tykee Smith from Georgia 89th overall. Smith was a true star in his slot cornerback position for the Bulldogs playing nearly all his snaps in the slot while at college.

Three picks later, with their second pick in Round 3, Tampa Bay went offense and selected Washington wide receiver Jalen McMillan. He, too, excelled in his role in the slot — but on the offensive side of the ball of course.

Bucs Nation’s Mike Kiwak mocked McMillan to the Buccaneers in his final mock draft this week. Pinning him to pick No. 89 and three slots ahead of where the Bucs actually drafted him, Mike had this to say about Tampa Bay’s new slot receiver.

If he wasn’t behind two other top 50 studs in Rome Odunze and Ja’Lynn Polk, people would be more privy to McMillan’s talent. He’d be a No. 1 on other Power 5 programs, as McMillan is a long-limbed athlete who’s reliably handed, possesses good size, and can shake defenders with clean strides and footwork.
