Buffalo adds a disruptive force at defensive tackle in Round 3

The Buffalo Bills have selected defensive tackle DeWayne Carter out of Duke with their third-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The team’s defensive tackle unit was in need or reinforcements and that’s exactly what the 23-year-old rookie can provide in 2024. A stout inside force at 6’3” and 302 pounds, Carter should slot in well within the interior defensive line 1-tech rotation, working toward a bigger role in 2025 and beyond.

To say that Carter is disruptive in the trenches may be an understatement. in 50 games with the Blue Devils, Carter made 125 tackles (48 solo) 24.5 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, 11 pass defenses, two forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and two touchdowns.

There are analysts who believe Carter may have been drafted a bit early, instead pegging him as a Round 4 to Round 5 selection. But for the Bills, his arrival allows them to begin molding Carter’s full potential with an eye on the future. With that, the Buffalo Bills have completed their work for Day 2 of this year’s draft.
