The goal of All aTwitter is to give readers a detailed or quirky look, through the unique lens of Twitter, at the Commanders, the NFL, and sports in general, along with a smattering of other things.

For those of you new to this, I will publish key QB stats each week judging how well the Colts’ QB performed. Yes, O-Line, receivers, and play-calling impact these numbers but they are primarily QB measures. I will probably modify the charts throughout the season. Commentary will be brief but feel free to let me know in the comments that stats aren’t everything. (click charts for larger view)
Take away the interception, and this looked like a typical...
The Indianapolis Colts are rolling at 5-1, but quarterback depth has become a major storyline heading into Week 7. With Anthony Richardson on injured reserve, head coach Shane Steichen will decide who backs up Daniel Jones — either rookie Riley Leonard or veteran Brett Rypien.
The Athletic’s James Boyd took to X (formerly known as Twitter), reporting that a team source confirmed Steichen will make the call after evaluating both options in practice this week.
“Source said #Colts HC Shane Steichen will have the final say of who is QB2 between Riley Leonard and Brett Rypien.

With Week 6 of the NFL and Fantasy Football season already behind us, fantasy managers are looking forward to another frantic Week 7 of football action. The tight end position has been at the center of constant change throughout the first six weeks, an already volatile position becoming all the more scarce with injuries and depth chart changes. Nevertheless, securing an elite tight end from week to week could be the difference in winning a league championship.
Notable injuries from Week 6 will include Cincinnati Bengals’ Mike Gesicki (pectoral), who was ruled out of the second half against Green Bay...
David Bell’s NFL career has ended after just three seasons. The Cleveland Browns’ wide receiver announced his retirement on Tuesday, due to an off-field injury.
Bell shared the news in a social media post with a caption, “Thank You, Cleveland,” with the 24-year-old making it clear that the decision was not his.
“Several months ago, I was blindsided by an off-field injury that was beyond my control, which put my football future in jeopardy. After consulting with medical experts and praying, I accept that continuing to play football would literally risk life and limb,” Bell wrote.
Bell’s retirement statement was...
The Pittsburgh Steelers locker room is never short on personality, and Cam Heyward proved that again this week with a viral quip about the upcoming AFC North showdown between Aaron Rodgers and Joe Flacco. The veteran defensive lineman dubbed Thursday night’s game between the Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals the “Icy Hot Bowl,” capturing social media’s attention instantly.
During Rodgers’ press availability, Heyward interrupted from off-camera to coin the nickname, sparking laughter throughout the room. ESPN’s Brooke Pryor took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share the moment as Rodgers reflected on the rarity of facing another veteran still starting...
The Miami Dolphins (1-5) and Cleveland Browns (1-5) face off in a Week 7 matchup between two desperate teams seeking to revive their seasons. Miami’s offense is built around Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, and Jaylen Waddle. Flashes of explosiveness, though, have been derailed by turnovers, inconsistency, and injury. The Browns, meanwhile, boast one of the NFL’s top defenses but the league’s worst offense. They are averaging just 13.7 points per game entering Week 7.
Miami’s biggest issue remains its defense. They rank near the bottom of the league in stopping the run. This...
The Cincinnati Bengals entered the season with second-round rookie Demetrius Knight Jr. and veteran Logan Wilson locked in as their starting linebacker duo in Al Golden’s defense. But in Week 6, that plan suddenly changed. Wilson was effectively benched in favor of Barrett Carter, a fourth-round rookie out of Clemson.
Wilson technically started the game, but he played only 12 snaps compared to Carter’s 61. Even more telling, Carter wore the green-dot helmet—meaning he was the one relaying calls from the sideline, a responsibility that had always belonged to Wilson.
Benching a team captain is no small move, especially one...
The Indianapolis Colts have made another calculated move to strengthen their quarterback depth. With Anthony Richardson placed on injured reserve due to an eye injury suffered before the Colts’ 31-27 Week 6 win over the Arizona Cardinals, the team signed veteran Brett Rypien to the practice squad as added insurance behind Daniel Jones and rookie Riley Leonard.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share the development, confirming that the veteran passer was joining the organization while also clarifying the team’s current quarterback order.
“Veteran QB Brett Rypien is signing with the #Colts practice squad,...
David Bell is walking away from football. The Browns wide receiver announced he’s retiring from the NFL, with the fourth-year player citing complications from a recent injury.
“Several months ago, I was blindsided by an off-field injury that was beyond my control, which put my football future in jeopardy,” Bell wrote on social media. “After consulting with medical experts and praying, I accept that continuing to play football would literally risk life and limb. Although it is the last thing I would otherwise want to do, with a heavy heart I am announcing my retirement.”

Tom Brady says "you can't argue" with his new No. 1, while the Bills and Eagles take deep drops in his power rankings.
1. Imagine being Jake Moody—left for dead after an inconsistent start to his career as a former 49ers third-round pick, getting a practice squad elevation for this week in place of Cairo Santos, having a critical kick blocked at the start of the 4th quarter, then nailing the game-winner as time expires to steal a road win for the Bears. Life comes at you fast in the NFL. Hopefully, this earns him another shot somewhere else.
2. I was already well on the “Justin Fields is destined to be a career backup” train before Sunday’s stinker in London. But after...
