Like many other teams right now, the Texans are looking through their books to find ways to open up more of their salary cap ahead of next week’s start to the free agency period. On Wednesday morning, they did just that as NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that the Texans are restructuring the contract of wide receiver Nico Collins to save the team $9.8 million in cap space.
The move is getting done by converting some of Collins’ base salary for the 2025 season in a signing bonus that will spread the money across the remaining years of his current deal.

With the space cleared, the Texans will now have an easier time rebuilding the receiver room around Collins with both Stefon Diggs and Robert Woods set to become free agents this time next week. Houston will also have to solidify the group enough to cover any potential setbacks to Tank Dell’s recovery after he sustained another season-ending injury in 2024.
