The NFL recently released the official 2025 Pro Bowl full roster on Thursday, with Jacksonville Jaguars long snapper Ross Matiscik and punter Logan Cooke being the only starters selected from Jacksonville.

With one week remaining in the 2024 regular season, Cooke leads the AFC and is second in the NFL in net yards per punt at 44.7. Additionally, his 32 punts inside the 20-yard line place third, and his 12 punts inside the 10 tie for fourth place in the AFC. Meanwhile, Matiscik has two special teams tackles, both in punt coverage, and has an 81.9 Pro Football Focus special teams grade, which leads AFC long snappers and is second across the league for all long snappers, per the team. It’s the first Pro Bowl nod for Cooke and the second consecutive selection for Matiscik.

Per the team release:

Matiscik, in his fifth season as the Jaguars’ long snapper, was named to the Pro Bowl for a second consecutive season. Originally signed by the Jaguars as a collegiate free agent following the 2020 NFL Draft, Matiscik also was named a first-team All-Pro selection for the 2023 season.

Cooke, the Jaguars’ punter and longest-tenured player, was named to the Pro Bowl for the first time. A seventh-round selection in the 2017 NFL Draft, is averaging 49.1 yards per punt and is second in the NFL with a 44.7-yard net average with 32 punts inside the 20-yard-line.

The 2025 Pro Bowl games will be held January 30th - February 2nd in Orlando, Florida.

Jaguars Alternates

Additionally, rookie WR Brian Thomas Jr. was selected as a first alternate to the games, with DE Josh Hines-Allen and DE Travon Walker also selected as fourth and fifth alternates.

  • Brian Thomas Jr. is second in the AFC in receiving yards with 1,179 and second in receiving touchdowns with 10.
  • Josh Hines-Allen is tied for 15th in the AFC for sacks with 8.0 (and 1 fumble forced).
  • Travon Walker is tied for ninth in the AFC for sacks with 9.5 (and two fumbles forced).

Brian Thomas Jr. snubbed

The below receivers were selected over Brian Thomas Jr:

  • Ja’Marr Chase: leads the AFC in receiving yards with 1,612 and first in receiving touchdowns with 16. This was a no-brainer selection, in my opinion.
  • Nico Collins: 10th in the AFC in receiving yards with 968 and tied for 13th in receiving touchdowns with 6. However, Collins played in just 11 games due to injury and is second in the AFC in receiving yards per game at 88.0. Collins' selection would seem to have merit, per the tape and his per-game stats.
  • Zay Flowers: seventh in the AFC in receiving yards with 1,047 and tied for 27th in receiving touchdowns with 4 while playing in all 16 games. This selection is head-scratching.
  • Jerry Jeudy: third in the AFC in receiving yards with 1,166, 13 yards behind Thomas Jr. However, he is also tied for 27th in receiving touchdowns with 4 while playing in all 16 games. This selection is also head scratching.

There is simply no world where Brian Thomas Jr. should not have been a Pro Bowl starter in front of Zay Flowers and Jerry Jeudy. The rookie was sadly, clearly snubbed.
