Aaron Rodgers is officially back with the Pittsburgh Steelers after leading them to an AFC North title in 2025. This year will mark his 22nd season in the NFL as he looks to put a bow on his storied career with a memorable 2026 campaign.
While Rodgers is the unquestioned starter this season, the Steelers have a pair of young signal-callers on their roster of whom they hope one will be their next franchise quarterback. Will Howard is entering his second season with the organization, while Drew Allar is going into Year One after being drafted in the third round...

Hiring McCarthy, however, certainly helped the odds of Rodgers coming back. Evidently, Rodgers may have even played a role in McCarthy’s initial interview with the team. Former Pittsburgh Steelers center/guard Kendrick Green revealed on Breiden Fehoko’s podcast that Mike Tomlin sent him a blunt message after he was traded in 2023.
“He told me when [the Steelers] traded me, ‘We probably didn’t put you in the best position to develop,'” Green told Fehoko. “He said, ‘So what, this is your career, not mine. You gotta figure this sh*t out. Go live that life.'”
To say the least, Green’s tenure with the Steelers was brutal. Former Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger often talks about how the Steelers messed up with throwing Green into the fire as a starter...
