This past week, I asked the following question:
What is your best story of meeting a current or former Miami Dolphins player or coach? If not a Dolphins player, maybe you have had an interaction with another noted NFL figure you might wish to share.
Below are a few of your personal stories of meeting a Miami Dolphins player or coach-
Phoenix6 got himself some new ties!
Garo Yaprimian – had a tie booth in the middle of t he Miami Mall. Met him there – talked for some minutes with him – bought a couple ties f rom him. Very personable – gregarious – also was only 5’6″ maybe 5’7″… lol Amazing to me to meet a personality – especially a mbr of my favorest team!
Ross B met a fairly old-school former Dolphins/Packers/Jets guard.
I was at University of Tennessee football game and we were able to get into the former players tailgate and I met Harry Galbreath and talked to him for a while. I don’t remember what we talked about but I do remember my old UT roommate saying something like “Harry here’s a Dolphins fan” and that started the conversation.
He was really nice and seemed genuinely interested in answering all my questions.
FFFL66IBA&O got to meet one of the all-time Dolphins greats at his Jr High.
One afternoon, while at PE class, at Thomas Jefferson JR High School, North Miami, FL, my classmates and I were out on the field playing softball. Our PE coach came walking out on the field with a MOUNTAIN of a MAN!…None of us had ever seen a man of this size! Our Coach said “C’mon in here guys, I want you to meet one of my College Classmates! This is Miami Dolphin’s Offensive Lineman LARRY LITTLE!!!” WOW!!!
Everyone of us got to shake his hand. Then Coach said “Wanna see how far Larry can hit the softball?” We all screamed “Oh Yeah!” Larry stepped up to the plate and Coach tossed him the ball and Larry CRUSHED IT!!! Not only did the ball leave the playing field, it went ALL the way over I-95!!! Some of us were going to go over the crosswalk to find the softball but Coach wouldn’t let us. I heard after school some of my classmates who lived on the NW 7th Ave side of I-95 looked for the ball but to my knowledge never found it…
Dolphster had the honor of playing catch with a former Super Bowl champion as a kid.
When I was 9 years old, Norm Evans (the Dolphins starting Tackle during the Super Bowl years) spoke at my parents church and afterwards, we played catch in the parking lot. It was one of the biggest thrills of my young life at that time.
davidson11 met Ricky when he was partaking in his favorite party favor.
I met Ricky Williams in a weed cafe in Amsterdam. Didn’t really talk to...
