New England Patriots - NESN.com
On Monday, the Minnesota Vikings parted ways with veteran wide receiver Adam Thielen, and it would be wise for the New England Patriots to consider bringing him on board.
The 35-year-old receiver hasn’t had the best season, recording only eight receptions for 69 yards in 11 games. Some of this can be attributed to inconsistent quarterback play from J.J. McCarthy and Carson Wentz.
However, Thielen could bring his veteran leadership to a young Patriots team that is seeking more guidance as New England approaches the postseason.
The Patriots are also thin at wide receiver, and should anything happen to Stefon Diggs or Kayson Boutte — and if one or both of them miss time — it would create a considerable gap in the receiving corps.
New England’s primary objective for the remainder of the season is to capture a Super Bowl title. The Patriots are one of the top teams in the AFC and could well be the team to watch in the conference.
Thielen’s best days could be behind him, but it could be beneficial for New England to bring him in for a workout. The Patriots could assess whether he still has anything left in the tank for the final two to three months of the season.
