Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux have been teammates with the New York Giants for the past two seasons. With the 2026-27 campaign, it appears Burns is happy to see Thibodeaux making progress as a defender in the NFL.
While talking with media members on Monday, Burns, who is entering his eighth season in the league, claimed that he’s inspired by how Thibodeaux is growing as a professional in the NFL. Overall, Burns is proud of how far Thibodeaux has come since being drafted in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
“I’m so proud of Thibs,” said Burns. “I don’t want to sound all sentimental and whatever, but just the man he is, and he’s becoming, the way he handles his business. It’s something that’s really inspirational.”

While Burns is proud of Thibodeaux, the four-year veteran is coming off the worst season of his career so far. The ex-Oregon Duck was limited to just 10 games due to a shoulder injury that sidelined him for the final seven games of the 2025-26 campaign. Thibodeaux ended the season with 25 combined tackles (13 solo) and 2.5 sacks.
Kayvon Thibodeaux is fully healthy now and aiming for a big comeback year with the Giants. He’ll be playing alongside Brian Burns and newly acquired rookie Arvell Reese. The defensive line has the potential of being disruptive for opposing offenses next season.
As for Burns, the 28-year-old edge rusher is coming off arguably the best season of his career. The three-time Pro Bowler finished the campaign with 67 combined tackles (39 solo), 16.5 sacks (career-high), three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. He also played all 17 games for the second consecutive season.
