What we learned from Browns Andrew Berry’s presser at the NFL combine

Myles Garrett, Travis Hunter and more

The scouting combine is taking place in Indianapolis this week and general manager Andrew Berry spoke with the media in regards to the Cleveland Browns offseason plans, where things stand with Myles Garrett and much more.

With the NFL draft a huge part of the offseason, especially with a less than stellar free agent class, the Browns are focused on improving their team after a failure of a 2024 NFL season.

Berry's stance on trading Garrett remains unchanged

To the surprise of no one, general manager Andrew Berry remains steadfast in his commitment to not trading away defensive end Myles Garrett, who requested a trade earlier this month.

If you follow the Browns close enough, Berry rarely caves into trade requests. Cleveland has all the leverage in this situation and the front office obviously believes in not trading Garrett for the sake of appeasing him. Trading Garrett would essentially create a snowball effect in which the entire roster would have to be torn down, the salary cap situation potentially getting worse and losing out on money to spend in free agency. It’s a staring contest and neither side appears to be blinking.

JOK’s future uncertain after a vague explanation

The football career of linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah remains uncertain after he suffered a season-ending neck injury against the Baltimore Ravens last year.

The answer that was given is about as vague as can be. No one knows if JOK will be back and the Browns haven’t given any information that suggests that he will be back. There’s a lot of mystery surrounding a very talented player and if his career were to be over, Cleveland would have another hole to fill on defense.

Health comes first, let’s just hope JOK is able to have a healthy life outside of football.

Chubb will test free agency, Berry was noncommittal about bringing him back

Running back Nick Chubb will enter free agency for the first time in his career.

Before people get up in arms, allow me to temper the masses. Yes, Chubb is one of the most beloved figures in this city and he has done a lot for this team. However, he is 29 and he is coming off a gruesome knee injury he suffered in 2023 and he suffered a broken foot this past season.

Watching the tape, Chubb didn’t have the explosiveness that he once had. Some of it has to deal with him coming back from his knee injury (which is fair). Chubb’s market might not be what he thinks it is, which will open the door to him coming back to Cleveland on a shorter deal with incentives included. Chubb and a room with rookie running backs could be an option for this team, so never say never.
