What a difference a win makes: Jets fan confidence in team, Aaron Glenn surges

The Jets finally got their first win of the season in Week 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals. The victory did wonders for fan confidence. You can see that in our latest SB Nation Reacts survey.

A week ago, only 13 percent of Jets fans voted that they are confident in the team’s direction. This week over half of our voters said they are confident in the team’s direction.

Similarly head coach Aaron Glenn was experiencing a lack of confidence from the fan base. Less than one-third of Jets fans voted that he is the right man for the job last week. Belief in Glenn also rose dramatically after the victory.

One win really can do wonders for perceptions.

Jets fans in some ways are acting out a meme.

Was the victory really that big of a deal? Is the dramatic swing a matter of fans being too hard on the team from starting 0-7? Is it a matter of fans reading too much into one win? Is it some combination of these things? I’ll leave that for you to decide.

Fortunately for Glenn and the Jets, they don’t have to play this week so there is no risk of a loss souring fans.
