The Washington Commanders are elevating WR Treylon Burks and DT Sheldon Day from the practice squad. This is the first elevation for Burks since signing with Washington two weeks ago. Day has already been elevated from the practice squad twice, and this is the last game he can be elevated. If Washington wants him on the active roster again, they will need to sign him to the 53-man roster.
Treylon Burks was a former first-round pick who has been injured every year he’s been in the NFL. Coaches in Washington have praised the work he’s been putting in since he arrived, and now he’ll get an opportunity with Terry McLaurin aggravating the quad injury that has him missing the fifth game of the season. Burks fractured his collarbone in July, but he’s cleared to return, and ready for a fresh start with Jayden Daniels and the Commanders.
Sheldon Day gets his final elevation as Washington continues to deal with injuries along the defensive line that have forced them to use DTs like Johnny Newton and LBs like Frankie Luvu as DEs. Day will give them another big body in the middle as they reconfigure the line.
Rookie fullback Robbie Ouzts, who returned to practice this week, was activated from injured reserve, while safety Jerrick Reed II was signed from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.
To make room on the roster, safety Julian Love and tight end Eric Saubert were placed on injured reserve, meaning each will have to miss a minimum of four games before being eligible to return.
Additionally, receivers Cody White and Ricky White III were elevated from the practice squad for Sunday’s game.
