If the Broncos’ defense can keep Kirk Cousins from getting in rhythm, the Broncos’ offense should be able to take care of business.
Dang, the Broncos were SOOOO close last week! But it’s hard to keep Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs down...especially when the refs just like them better.
Doesn’t matter, though. We saw a continuing-to-improve Bo Nix and that was a ton of fun. And what will be even more fun this week will be a win at home against the Falcons! Helping us prepare for that is another longtime fan but rookie UFGer who is so ready for this Bo Nix Era.
Aren’t we all! Thanks BoomSauce18 for a fantastic debut to the UFG!
MHR - So we have to do this. What did you think of that Chiefs game? The good, the bad and the ugly.
BoomSauce18: It’s still a little painful to think about honestly. My whole family was watching the game (a rarity in my house) and we were convinced that we finally had a win at Arrowhead - or GEHA or whatever it’s called these days. Then, the block. In terms of painful moments, I wouldn’t put that play up there with Rahim Moore, but it’s not far off. The blocked field goal was definitely the ugly.
The good: Lots here. Bo Nix was tough as nails and put us in a position to win. This guy doesn’t look like a rookie anymore. Estime had a nice game and held onto the ball. The defense had a great day too.
The bad: Taylor Swift’s boyfriend still found a way to beat us, and that terrible illegal contact call…
MHR - Despite the loss, the fact that the Broncos held the Chiefs to 16 points counts for something – even if the Chiefs haven’t been having a banner year offensively…right?
BoomSauce18: Definitely. I think the Chiefs offense will look much better in the next few weeks due to the addition of Hopkins - who was completely SHUT DOWN by PSII. So, the fact that they needed to basically be gifted 7 points to even score 16 on us in their own house speaks volumes. Our defense definitely came to play and almost delivered the win.
Also, seeing the multiple sacks and constant pressure on Mahomes was a thing of beauty. Keep whining Pat…
MHR - Also, Bo Nix comes out of there as NFL Rookie of the Week. How are you feeling about this quarterback? Not just this season but for the future? Be honest, were you this optimistic last April when the Broncos drafted him?
BoomSauce18: I’ll start with how I’m feeling now before I let you know my thoughts pre-draft. What I see in Bo now is a guy that rarely makes the same mistake twice. It’s crazy to me how much better and more comfortable he’s gotten already in his career. Playing QB for the Broncos is to play in the shadow of the greats, and...
