The New England Patriots won their eighth straight game on Thursday night, defeating the New York Jets 27-14. New England is now 9-2 on the season, owners of the NFL’s best record. Following the game, Stefon Diggs fielded some questions from NFL.com’s Judy Battista, and Diggs’s responses didn’t disappoint. One of his answers even reminded fans of prime Bill Belichick.

“What’s working for this offense,” Battista asked Diggs.

“Complementary football,” Diggs said. “Defense playing well, special teams playing well, we got a good running back, we got a good quarterback, and everybody’s doing their job.”

“What are you seeing in terms of (Drake Maye’s) progression?” Battista continued.

“It’s just him doing his job,” Diggs said of Maye. “He’s a young player that’s playing extremely well. He’s got a decent supporting cast, but he’s out there making plays, so I’m just so proud of him (and) looking forward to the next one.”

“Let’s talk about the next one,” Battista said, before tempting Diggs to declare the Patriots Super Bowl contenders. “You’re 9-2. That’s the best record in the NFL. How far can this team go?”

But Diggs didn’t take the bait, choosing instead to lean into a Belichick-style, “We’re on to Cincinnati” approach.

“Take it one week at a time,” Diggs told Battisa. “We’re gonna see at the end of the year (how far we can go), but right now, we’re focused on Cincinnati.”

Diggs was definitely focused against the Jets. He led the Pats in receiving on the night with nine catches and 105 yards. Diggs now has 59 catches for 659 yards and three receiving touchdowns on the season.

The Bengals (3-6) will be on the road against the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday.
