The dictionary defines the word ‘phantom’ as “a ghost, a figment of one’s imagination.” And according to the wives and girlfriends of Pittsburgh Steelers players, that’s what the apparent wife of Aaron Rodgers is.
During the Pittsburgh Steelers’ offseason, the simultaneously private yet outspoken Aaron Rodgers announced that he had gotten married, assumedly to a woman, as he has not revealed her name, nor anything else about her. Quite literally nothing is known about Rodgers’ wife.
And that just isn’t the case for NFL fans, but for the very community in which Rodgers is currently working and living, as a “WAG” (wife and girlfriend) of a Pittsburgh Steelers player recently opened up to The Daily Mail about how much of a mystery she is to them, as well.
“She’s like a phantom. We all want to meet her, to invite her out, get to know her. But we haven’t met her yet. We don’t even know who she is,” an ‘unidentified WAG’ told The Daily Mail.
“I get being secretive, but come on. At this point, it feels like he’s deliberately keeping her secret from even the people who love him the most,” an alleged member of Rodgers’ family told the outlet.
The sentiment of Steelers’ WAGs also reflects those associated with the New York Jets, who similarly never knew of Rodgers’ wife’s existence.
In June, Rodgers revealed that he had been married for “a couple of months.” State records of Rodgers getting married have not yet been obtained by any media outlets, however.
“When you meet the right one and you’re with the right one, your whole world changes in a second,” Rodgers told NFL Network’s Kyle Brandt.
“And to have that person that unconditionally loves you behind the scenes, there’s no better feeling in the world, and I’ve got the most incredible wife. I just really love her, and I’m so thankful to have her by my side at the end. When you have that stability and that rock behind you at the house, you feel like you can do anything.”
After starting the season with a 4-1 record, the Pittsburgh Steelers have lost four of their last five games to drop to 5-4. In a down season for the AFC North, however, that record is currently enough to put them in first place in the division as they enter a crucial Week 11 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.
