The Pittsburgh Steelers have to prepare for a different quarterback in their second matchup with the Cleveland Browns.
There are still a couple of weeks until the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Cleveland Browns in their second meeting of the season. However, they now have a pretty good idea about who they will be facing.
Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters on Monday that quarterback Shedeur Sanders will be Cleveland’s starter for the remainder of the season.
“He has constantly and consistently gotten better in each one of these games, and how he’s approached this game,” Stefanski said. “He’s been working very hard so I feel good about where his development is heading. He knows there are always going to be plays that he can be better, and those types of things, but he’s very intentional about getting better each and every game that he’s out there.”

Sanders has impressed since taking over as the Browns starter in Week 12. Despite going 1-2 over the past few weeks, he has thrown for 722 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions. He’s also added 35 yards and another score on the ground.
Only time will tell if his development will continue to trend in the right direction, but he seems to already be exceeding expectations as a fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Cleveland selected another quarterback before Sanders in Dillon Gabriel, who has now lost the starting job. Gabriel is who the Steelers faced the first time around in Week 6. He threw for 221 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions in Pittsburgh’s 23-9 win.
There’s still some time for things to change, but the Browns seem to be confident in riding with Sanders the rest of the season, barring any unforeseen regression or injury.
Sanders, the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, was highly touted coming out of Colorado, where he threw for 7,364 yards, 64 touchdowns and 13 touchdowns from 2023-24.
