Steelers Once Again All Over Defensive Line in Draft Scouting
Steelers Now Steelers Now

INDIANAPOLIS — The Pittsburgh Steelers have or have scheduled formal interviews with a half dozen of the top defensive line prospects at the 2025 NFL Combine, continuing to show obvious interest in mining what is expected to be a very strong class in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Steelers started this year’s draft process by sending Omar Khan, Mike Tomlin, Andy Weidl and Teryl Austin to drool over the collection of defensive line talent at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, and they’re picking up right where they left off at the NFL Combine.

The Steelers had or have scheduled formal interviews with first-round prospects Kenneth Grant of Michigan and Derrick Harmon of Oregon. They previously met with Walter Nolen of Ole Miss at the Senior Bowl. Since Omar Khan took over as general manager, the team has been hesitant to use one of their 45 formal interviews on a player that Khan and head coach Mike Tomlin have already talked to once during the process in Mobile.

Grant, Harmon and Nolen are the three most likely defensive tackles for then Steelers to target in the first round. There’s another pack of options right behind them in the second round, as well.

Ohio State’s Tyleik Williams, Toledo’s Darius Alexander, South Carolina’s T.J. Sanders, Texas’ Alfred Collins, Texas A&M’s Shemar Turner and Tennessee’s Omar Norman-Lott are all options for the Steelers to pick in the second round at No. 52 overall, and they’re diving into that group, as well.

They have formal meetings with Collins and Turner, who pulled out of the Senior Bowl with injuries, here this week and met with Alexander and Sanders in Mobile.

They also are holding formal meetings with some later-round options, including Oregon’s Jordan Burch, who is converting from college edge rusher to defensive tackle at the NFL level, and Texas’ Vernon Broughton.
