Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Cole Holcomb will miss his team’s Week 9 home game with an illness, the club announced on Saturday.

Holcomb missed two days of practice this week with the unspecified illness. He was originally listed as questionable on the team’s Friday injury report, but was downgraded to out after the team’s walkthrough on Saturday.

Holcomb returned from a grisly 2023 knee injury to be a key contributor stopping the run this season. In seven games, he made three starts, recorded 25 tackles and forced one fumble.

The Steelers will likely start Payton Wilson alongside Patrick Queen with Holcomb out, and Malik Harrison is set to return from a knee injury to man the No. 3, run-stopping inside linebacker position. That will be a key role against the Colts and the NFL’s leading rusher, Jonathan Taylor.

Rookie Carson Bruener will be the No. 4 inside linebacker.
