In a week full of negative injury news, the Pittsburgh Steelers did get one significant piece of good news, as left guard Isaac Seumalo returned to practice on Friday and is expected to play in the team’s Week 9 game against the Indianapolis Colts at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday.

Seumalo injured the pec during last Sunday’s Week 8 loss to the Green Bay Packers. He was injured in the first half of the game and attempted to return in the second half before being ruled out.

Spencer Anderson replaced Seumalo and played well, but with Anderson at left guard, the Steelers were unable to utilize the team’s jumbo offensive package that features Anderson as an eligible lineman and 300-pound tight end Darnell Washington.

Seumalo was initially considered questionable to play this week. He did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday and was a limited participant on Friday, but the team saw enough to give him the green light for Sunday’s game against the Colts, freeing up Anderson for his usual duties on the outside.
