Following Myles Garrett’s trade to the Los Angeles Rams, rumors have festered about if Aaron Donald will return to the team from retirement. Donald officially announced his retirement in March 2024 after 10 seasons with the Rams. Donald, at the time, was only 32 years old. Now, at age 35, there is a considerable push to bring him back to Los Angeles to team up with the reigning Defensive Player of the Year.
And it seems as if the conversations aren’t hypothetical. Last week, Pat McAfee revealed on Twitter that Donald was seriously considering a return.
“I reached out to @AaronDonald97 this morning.. According to source(s) it for sure got him thinking. He said he’s 35 and he’s gotta see if that fire can light back up. Aaron Donald and Myles Garret playing together with the Rams would be INSANE #PMSLive”
In a quote obtained by NBC Sports, Myles Garrett also weighed in, saying that he hadn’t talked to Donald yet, but he would be excited to play with him.
“We haven’t talked yet, but definitely expect to talk soon. I don’t know what his plans are and I won’t pretend to know, but a lot of people are excited and thrilled about the possibility of him coming back.”
Rams safety Quentin Lake also weighed in on the push to get Donald back in a Rams jersey, and a quote obtained by Adam Grosbard.
“I know he’s been talking about there’s certain players that if we were to get he wouldn’t want to come back. Hey Aaron, you know, if you’re listening to this, man, we are more than glad to have you. You’d be a great addition.”
