Great news for the Jaguars, as the team on Saturday announced additional help on the way for Jacksonville’s week 14 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. The team officially announced a return to the field for safety Eric Murray, following his six-week recovery (including five games missed) on the Reserve/Injured; Designated for Return list for a neck iniury.

Per the team release:

Murray started the first seven games of the season before being placed on the Reserve/Injured list on October 31. He totaled 33 tackles (18 solo), four passes defensed, an interception and a quarterback hit.

Murray initially suffered a neck injury in the Jaguars’ Week 4 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, landing him on the injury report for multiple weeks, while playing through the ailment. However, he was eventually placed on IR after leaving the week 7 game against the LA Rams prior to the bye.

In his five game absence, S Antonio Johnson has stepped up in a major way, while paired with Andrew (Dewey) Wingard.

It will be interesting to see how defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile shuffles the room with the return of the veteran Murray to the core. With multiple quality options available, more three-safety looks may be on the near-horizon for this Jacksonville secondary, once Dewey Wingard returns to action.

Both Johnson and Murray have shown a knack for getting their hands on the ball in 2025. The addition of Murray could be key to getting back to their early season turnover success.

However, with Wingard ruled out for Sunday this week due to a concussion, Murray’s return comes right on time.

Additional Transactions

In addition to activating Murray, the team also:

  • Waived RB Cody Schrader and
  • Elevated DB Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig and WR Austin Trammell to the active roster from the practice squad for tomorrow’s game via standard elevation

Per the team:

Silmon-Craig joined the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Colorado this offseason. He has played in each of the last two games as a standard elevation. Silmon-Craig started all 13 games for the Buffaloes during his final collegiate season in 2024, leading the team with 93 total tackles (10 for loss) to go with three passes defensed, two fumble recoveries, 2.0 sacks, one forced fumble and one interception.

Trammell has appeared in each of the last five games for Jacksonville and has spent the last two seasons with the team, splitting time between the active roster and practice squad. He has appeared in 30 career games and totaled 11 receptions for 128 yards in five seasons with the Falcons (2021), Rams (2022-23) and Jaguars (2024-25). He has also returned 27 punts for 190 yards and seven kickoffs for 155 yards in his career.
