The Davante Adams-Las Vegas Raiders trade rumors have taken another significant twist.

According to NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, Davante Adams told the Raiders “that he preferred to be traded.” Rapoport noted that nothing is “imminent” at this time.

Adams missed the Raiders’ Week 4 home game against the Cleveland Browns with a hamstring injury. Since that game, rumors about a potential Adams trade have skyrocketed following interesting developments.

Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce was caught “liking” an Instagram post about Davante Adams potentially being done with the Raiders. When he spoke to Kay Adams on her “Up & Adams” program, the All-Pro receiver said he hadn’t heard from the coach and that he was unsure what Pierce’s activity was about.

The 31-year-old is in the third season of a five-year deal worth $140 million he signed with Las Vegas in 2022. Adams was traded to the Raiders from the Green Bay Packers in exchange for 2022 first and second-round picks.

Through his first three games of the 2024 season, Davante Adams has 18 receptions for 209 yards and a touchdown. Since joining Vegas, he has racked up 221 catches for 2,869 yards and 23 touchdowns.

The Raiders will try to get above .500 for the first time this season when they take on the Denver Broncos in Mile High City on Sunday afternoon.

Trading Davante Adams Is The Raiders’ Only Choice

The Raiders are nowhere close to Super Bowl contention, and Adams’ trade value isn’t getting any higher with his 32nd birthday approaching. Adams clearly doesn’t want to be in Sin City, so the only option is to trade him as soon as possible.

Adams would be a difference-maker for any team looking to bolster their offense. Teams that make sense for him include the New York Jets (a reunion with Aaron Rodgers?), Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens.
