Quinton Jefferson signed in NFL free agency
The Cleveland Browns roster that lost to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 9 of the NFL season will look different than the one that faces the New Orleans Saints in Week 11. With the Browns out of playoff contention, GM Andrew Berry kicked off NFL trade deadline day by dealing away DE Za’Darius Smith to the Detroit Lions.
The Smith deal comes a few weeks after Cleveland moved WR Amari Cooper in a deal with the Buffalo Bills.
The Browns now have extra third and fifth-round picks to work with in the 2025 NFL draft. We created a mock draft after the Smith deal to give a look at what those picks could become.
Berry is not done making changes in Cleveland. According to multiple reports, DT Quinton Jefferson is being released:
Jefferson signed a one-year deal in the offseason but has been inactive since rookie DT Michael Hall Jr. returned from suspension.
After six sacks with the New York Jets last year, Jefferson had just one sack, one tackle for loss and two QB hits for Cleveland this year in five games.
