The HawksZone Rundown podcast is joined by special guest and offensive line coach Parker Blake to talk about the Seahawks o-line, the top draft prospects, and more!

In this episode of the HawksZone Rundown podcast, we sit down with Parker Blake, an offensive line coach and Cincinnati Bengals analyst, to dive deep into the Seattle Seahawks’ offensive line!

Parker, who closely follows the Seahawks and attended this year’s Senior Bowl, provides an insightful analysis of the line’s strengths and weaknesses, particularly from the perspective of a seasoned o-line coach. He discusses potential breakout players from the group of developmental talents and explores what the Seahawks might do in the upcoming draft, specifically whether they should target an O-lineman at pick 18 or go in another direction. Parker also gives his take on the free-agent class, sharing what moves he would make if he were Seahawks GM John Schneider, and whether making a big splash on Day 1 of free agency is the best approach to improve the line. Additionally, he highlights the best O-line prospects to watch in this year’s draft and where value can be found.

Finally, Parker shares his thoughts on the Seahawks’ overall trajectory, considering if they are just an O-lineman away from becoming a true contender or if the focus should be on developing their existing players.

03:45 - Parker’s overall assessment of the Seahawks offensive line

Blake: “They haven’t been afraid to take shots. It feels like they’re trying to pick up one or two offensive linemen in the draft. I feel like they’re not necessarily taking bad prospects, but what I don’t like about their process has been that it feels like they’re trying to be more conservative. They’re not going for some of these more traitsy guys or some of these early-round shots. They like guys on Day 2 or later, they like guys that might be outliers in size but they have a good technical profile, or they might have all the size and traits but then they’re very, very, very raw. I think that’s kind of the definition of the [Seahawks] group right now.”

04:55 - What offensive line prospects stand out on the Seahawks

Blake: “I was a huge fan of [Christian] Haynes and his upside, but the biggest thing with him was that he needed to end up in a good system. He didn’t have the best ceiling as far as his pass protection because he’s a little light in the pants and has little issues with play strength. Getting him in one of these zone schemes where you can kind of protect him in play-action, get him moving side to side and let him be an athlete, that’s really where he’s going to succeed.”
