The New England Patriots continue to find ways to win, and they did so again on Thursday, defeating the New York Jets 27-14. A key factor in their success was the stellar performance of quarterback Drake Maye.
Maye completed 25 out of 34 passes, collecting 281 yards and tossing one touchdown. Throughout the night, he consistently displayed his talent with some impressive throws.
Many people are impressed by Maye’s performance this season, and one of them is rookie left tackle Will Campbell, who thinks Maye is one of the best in the league.
“I’m biased but I think he’s the best player in the NFL,” Campbell said on Thursday, via Patriots on CLNS. “There’s no game that we are out of when we have him.”
New England selected Campbell with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and he deserves recognition for playing a key role in helping Maye develop into a great quarterback.
Since Maye is right-handed, Campbell is protecting his blind side and doing an excellent job. This allows Maye to take shots downfield and set up touchdowns to secure victories in games.
Maye and Campbell have the potential to become one of the premier quarterback-left tackle duos in the NFL. With both of them still young, the Patriots could benefit from their talents for the next decade.
