The New England Patriots are rumored to be looking at pass rush help ahead of the Nov. 4 NFL trade deadline.
New England is atop the AFC East and could look to upgrade its roster. Although the Patriots are linked to running back help, NFL insider Dianni Russini reported on Saturday that the Patriots are showing trade interest in Miami Dolphins pass rusher Jaelan Phillips.
“Miami has received interest from the Eagles, 49ers, Patriots and others on OLB Jaelan Phillips (The Dolphins are looking for at least a third-rounder in return),” Russini wrote. “They’re also getting calls on DE Bradley Chubb and OLB Matthew Judon.”
Miami selected Phillips 18th overall in 2021, and he’s in the final year of his five-year rookie deal. With Phillips as a pending free agent, Miami would be wise to move him, and the Patriots are looking to land the pass rusher from their division rival.
Phillips has recorded 25 tackles, three sacks, and one forced fumble with the Dolphins this season.
Along with Phillips, Russini reports the focus is on pass rush, while trading for a running back is a small possibility.
“The Patriots are searching for a pass rusher but feel good about their offensive weapons,” Russini added. “Running back could be a possibility because of recent injuries.”
New England will host the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday as the Patriots are looking to improve to 7-2.
