One Patriot Place will be a pretty awkward place to walk around on Wednesday.
The NFLPA released its annual “Player Team Report Cards” this week and the results painted yet another horrific picture for the New England Patriots — who ranked 31st of 32 teams across the NFL.
It’s a survey of professional athletes, so some things should be taken with a grain of salt, but the overall grades were just as startling as they were last year.
Treatment of Families: C+ (18th)
Food/Cafeteria: C (24th)
Nutritionist/Dietician: B (25th)
Locker Room: C- (22nd)
Training Room: C- (30th)
Training Staff: C+ (26th)
Weight Room: F (32nd)
Strength Coaches: B (26th)
Team Travel: F (31st)
Head Coach: B+ (24th)
Owner: D (29th)
New England’s weight room continued to be a point of concern from players, who have often complained about the size and location. Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who is directly tied to all of the grades, received another indictment of a ranking as he only sat above Arizona Cardinals owner Michael Bidwell (30th), Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper (31st) and New York Jets owner Woody Johnson (32nd).
How about the travel grade, too? The Patriots often loan their team planes for humanitarian causes and were the first time to supply its own plane, but clearly they haven’t caught up with the times.
Jerod Mayo (B+) surprisingly received a higher grade than Bill Belichick (B-) did in 2023. Mike Vrabel received the same grade as Mayo during his final season with the Tennessee Titans.
The Patriots did announce plans to make upgrades to a number of these categories by way of a standalone training facility that will open in 2026 — so at least they have that going for them.
