NORWOOD, Mass. — The New England Patriots won’t congregate for organized team activities until April 8, but that hasn’t stopped the new coaching staff from connecting with players.

One Patriot Place is an interesting place to be right now.

Mike Vrabel and his staff are focused on free agency and the draft, but there are some members of the roster walking around the halls while preparations are being made — even those who will be testing the free agent market in a few weeks.

“I was in the facility a few weeks ago — ran into Vrabes,” Jonathan Jones told NESN.com on Saturday. “We sat down and just talked more about life than football, right? You know, just sharing stories about his kids and where they’re at in life, me and mine. It was just good to be in the facility, but I haven’t really talked to anybody else. Free agency is coming up, so it’ll be fun.”

Jones, who recently helped open an indoor playground alongside his wife, will become a free agent on March 10. It’s not an unfamiliar position for him to be in, but it will be the first time he does so while his current team undergoes a coaching change.

Vrabel did leave off a good first impression, though, so while the veteran is open to change maybe he’ll be fine with that change coming in the place he’s spent his entire career.
