New England Patriots - NESN.com
The New England Patriots just won’t stop winning. After taking down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 10 by a score of 28-23, the Pats have now won seven straight games, pushing their record to 8-2 on the season.
All year long, fans have been waiting for the floor to drop out from underneath the Patriots’ hot start. But with each passing week, the team is managing to prove that they are legit. Taking down a talented Buccaneers team was a big statement victory for New England.
That was reflected in the latest NFL power rankings that came out heading into Week 11. While the Pats’ weak schedule has thrown some folks off, more and more people are gradually beginning to realize just how good this team is. With that in mind, New England jumped up three spots to the No. 6 position in The Athletic’s latest power rankings.
Say what you want about the Patriots’ schedule, but winning seven games in a row in the NFL is tough, regardless of who your opponent is. A quick look around the league should prove that, as it feels like at least one major upset has been taking place every week.
Further helping boost New England’s standing in these power rankings is the fact that it is in a really good spot when it comes to playoff positioning. With their win over the Bucs and the Buffalo Bills’ stunning loss to the Miami Dolphins, the Pats now have a two-game cushion atop the AFC East.
More challenging tests will arrive down the line, but in their few contests against top opposition, the Patriots have looked to be up to the task. New England will be back in action on Thursday Night Football for a divisional matchup against the New York Jets.
