Rob Gronkowski will go down as one of the greatest tight ends of all time, so when a rumor about an NFL comeback surfaced, New England Patriots fans raised their eyebrows.
It wouldn’t be the first time Gronk came out of retirement. The four-time Super Bowl champion retired in 2018 and returned in 2020 to reunited with Tom Brady on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The 35-year-old seemingly thought of mirroring his former teammate with a second return, according to Cecil Lammey. However, football was nowhere near Gronkowski’s mind when the rumor surfaced.
“Crazy bro. They must know something about me that I don’t,” Gronkowski told FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz. “I wish I still had those powers, because that would be cool if I did. But I was just in Australia for a few days. Now it’s time to relax a little. No football.”
There you have it. It was probably silly of fans to latch onto an out-of-nowhere rumor. It goes to show how desperate football fans were for something exciting in the offseason and how you can’t always believe what you see on social media.
