When the Green Bay Packers finally kicked off against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football in Week 10, they were underdogs for the first time all season according to most sportsbooks. Late money came in on the Eagles, pushing the line in their favor in the hours before the game started, and the result rewarded those who helped make Philadelphia 1.5-point favorites at Lambeau Field.
With the Packers scoring just 7 points — and only 20 points total in their last two games — one might expect them to be underdogs for just the second time this season when they hit the road on a short week in Week 11. However, the matchup will not allow that to happen.
Green Bay’s next game comes against the New York Giants, a team that fired head coach Brian Daboll on Monday after yet another 4th-quarter collapse. The Giants dropped to 2-8 on the season and boast one of the worst defenses in the NFL — including a run defense that is last in nearly every efficiency metric. New York’s defense has allowed at least 140 rushing yards in each of their last four games, all losses, and they have also squandered multiple big leads in 4th quarters.
Meanwhile, the Giants look like they may be without rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, who suffered a concussion (his fourth of the season) on Sunday. If he can’t play this week, which looks likely, that should mean Russell Wilson would be in line to start for the fourth time this season.
For those reasons, FanDuel sportsbook currently has the Packers installed as 7.5-point favorites for Sunday’s game at MetLife Stadium. With head coach Matt LaFleur insistent on establishing the team’s run game this season, there is no better opportunity to do so than this week, and the books clearly expect them to do so.
Meanwhile, the total points line on this game is 43.5, suggesting an expected score line of 25.5-18 in the Packers’ favor. The Packers’ defense has held their last five opponents to an average of 18.4 points, putting that expected Giants score right on track, but it has been the Packers offense failing to hold up their end of the bargain.
We’ll keep an eye on the line throughout the week and keep it here at Acme Packing Company for all the news that may affect the Packers’ chances of getting back into the win column in Week 11.
