The Green Bay Packers are reportedly open to trading star cornerback Jaire Alexander for the right price this offseason.

The Green Bay Packers are open to trading two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander for the right price, according to a recent report by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

Per Rapoport, the Packers have already had trade conversations centered around Alexander, who is considered to be the most decorated cornerback available this offseason.

Alexander, 28, has struggled to stay healthy as of late, playing in just seven games in each of the past two seasons. However, when healthy, he is still one of the best ballhawks in the league.

Since being selected in the first-round (No. 18 overall) in the 2018 NFL Draft, Alexander has recorded 287 tackles, 1.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, 12 interceptions and 70 passes defensed.

Alexander still has two years left on the four-year, $84 million contract extension he signed ahead of the 2022 season and has a base salary of $16.15 million in 2025.

It remains to be seen what it would take to acquire the veteran cornerback, but it shouldn’t be too much given his recent injury history and lack of production.

It wouldn’t hurt the Steelers to inquire about Alexander, if they haven’t already, with a clear need for a No. 2 cornerback opposite Joey Porter Jr. Pittsburgh must be smart to not overpay for the often-injured cornerback, though.

The Steelers may just opt to bring back veteran cornerback Donte Jackson, who is scheduled to be a free agent after leading the team with five interceptions on 2024. But general manager Omar Khan was far from committal to him on Tuesday.

It could be that the Steelers are simply keeping their options open at the beginning stages of the offseason. Good thing, too, since yet another talented player looks like he’s available to acquire with possibly more on the way.
