Yes, Green Bay Packers star Micah Parsons had good things to say about a teammate. And Parsons is working hard to get back on the field. But Parsons may have ruffled fans’ feathers when he named a fierce rival’s star as the NFL’s No. 1 player for 2026.
Parsons said “Iceman” when he got his chance to pick the NFL’s top player. And that nickname is tied to Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams.
Oops.
But there’s ambiguity in the selection. There’s no back and forth with Parsons clearly bestowing that honor on a rival. So Packers’ fans will have to live with it for now.
Parsons suffered a season-ending injury against the Broncos back in December. He said he’s taking the long-view approach, according to Packers.com.
“The goal has always just been not right now, but longevity with my career here,” Parons said. “And I think they want that approach. “The goal for me is to complete the season — not no relapse — and playoffs. And pushing towards a championship. The goal isn’t for me to go out there and re-hurt myself trying to force myself to get back, the first few games. The goal has always been playoffs, and I think we’re all on the same page.”
The mental aspect has been tough for Parsons.
“I would definitely say it is hard for me to accept,” he said. “Not only is it hard to accept that I’mma miss more time than what I want, but obviously hard to accept the injury. It constantly replays in my brain.
“I haven’t accepted it yet, but I work hard as hell every day trying to make sure that I will be better when it comes out of this.”
Of course, Parsons will also have to make sure he has the fans back on his side. A sack or two of Williams in Week 5 or Week 16 will go a long way toward getting that done.
