Packers Discussion: Who else would you extend this offseason?

The Green Bay Packers are getting ahead of their extensions, as they’ve already extended receivers Jayden Reed and Christian Watson, who were both going into the final years of their contracts in 2026, this offseason. Here’s the question I want to ask you all today: Who else would you try to extend long-term before the regular season kicks off?

Below are the Packers’ players who are on the final year of their contracts and set to be unrestricted free agents in the 2027 offseason, if the team doesn’t give them new deals:

  • QB Tyrod Taylor
  • RB Pierre Strong Jr.
  • WR Skyy Moore
  • TE Tucker Kraft
  • TE Luke Musgrave
  • TE Josh Whyle
  • OT Darian Kinnard
  • DE Devonte Wyatt
  • DE Karl Brooks
  • DE Jordan Riley
  • NT Jonathan Ford
  • OLB Brenton Cox Jr.
  • OLB Arron Mosby
  • ILB Isaiah McDuffie
  • ILB Nick Niemann
  • ILB Kristian Welch
  • CB Keisean Nixon
  • CB Carrington Valentine

As far as starters go, the expiring deals on the team are tight end Tucker Kraft, defensive end Devonte Wyatt (and maybe Karl Brooks) and Keisean Nixon (and maybe Carrington Valentine). Kraft is 26 years old, while Wyatt and Nixon are 28.

I expect the team to get deals done with Kraft and Wyatt before the regular season starts. It’s tough for me to imagine that the Packers will extend Nixon at his position and age. I believe that Nixon’s run in Green Bay has been a little underrated, but paying an older, undersized outside cornerback isn’t a good process in today’s NFL.
