New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel got to hold court with some top defensive prospects this week at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine.
So far, so good.
Alex Barth of 98.5 The Sports Hub spent time Wednesday asking those prospects what the meetings were like, and the early returns were pretty great.
“It was pretty cool,” Alabama linebacker Jihaad Campbell told Barth. “It was intense. Vrabel was definitely intense — he’s a great guy, though. I have nothing but great things to say about that guy.”
“It was great. I had a great experience with Mike Vrabel,” Texas A&M defensive lineman Nic Scourton told Barth. “He was a great guy, that whole staff was great. It was a great meeting.”
“He’s very serious, a very up-front guy,” Penn State pass-rusher Abdul Carter told Barth. “He’s all about business, which is what I like. He was really straightforward with me, so I like him.”
Ohio State defensive lineman Jack Sawyer didn’t meet with New England but still had nothing but great things to say about his fellow Buckeye.
“I haven’t gotten to meet with Coach Vrabel yet,” Sawyer said. “I know he’s going to do good things in New England, he obviously had a great career at Ohio State and a great career in the NFL, too. I’m looking forward to any chance I get to talk to him.”
Vrabel will continue to meet with prospects throughout the week, and you’d have to imagine he’ll get even more intense with guys who don’t play his former position — which could lead to some great quotes.
