Bringing your daily links to the NFL’s New York Jets
Good morning Gang Green Nation! Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey held a pre-NFL Combine press conference yesterday, and it went pretty much as expected. Which is to say, they said a lot of words but pretty much said nothing at all. They’re here to win, now and in the future. As opposed to what - they’re here to lose? They’re looking for winners. As opposed to looking for losers? They’re looking for smart, tough, aggressive and resilient players. Who isn’t? They’re open to trading up, down or staying put at #7.
All this is not to be critical of the new Jets regime. This is exactly what they wanted to do - say a lot of words and reveal nothing. That’s perfectly fine. It’s what we’ve come to expect from NFL franchises in press conferences. Most teams most of the time use plenty of words and say nothing. The bottom line is talk is cheap. Press conferences tend to be relatively worthless. The team will reveal the important stuff on draft day, in free agency, through trades and on the field. In the meantime, a lot of words will be spoken. For the most part, they won’t mean diddly.
