Kansas City Chiefs tight end Noah Gray has quietly become one of the most reliable contributors on the team’s offense. Gray currently has an impressive 88.5% catch rate — the highest on the team — and his consistency has earned the admiration of both quarterback Patrick Mahomes and offensive coordinator Matt Nagy.

Before the 2024 season, Gray signed a new contract, cementing his role in the Chiefs’ future. Since then, he has continued to prove his value, showcasing the work ethic and precision that makes him a trusted target in critical moments.

“He’s been somebody that, since I got here, I’ve really taken on to what he’s done as far as the details, his practice habits, his in-game adjustments, his making plays when given a chance,” Nagy said. “He’s Mr. Consistent, [and] I think it’s very valuable, and he’s probably one of the more underrated and under-appreciated guys from outside of this building when you look at what he does.”

Gray’s high catch percentage — among the best in the league for non-running backs —hasn’t gone unnoticed. Both Nagy and Mahomes attribute this to his preparation and understanding of the offense.

“He transfers what he does in practice to the game,” Nagy explained. “Every single rep he gets, he makes count. Even if he’s the third option in the progression, you know he’ll be in the right spot.”

Gray’s willingness to “make the play happen” has made him a solid number two behind future hall-of-fame tight end Travis Kelce.

“He does everything the right way,” Mahomes said. “He’s learned a ton from Trav, and so he knows how to kind of work within the rules of the offense and get himself open.”

“He’s just a guy that’s going to be in the right spot, so as a quarterback, you know if you’re going to give him the football, he’s going to make the play happen,” Mahomes said.

Mahomes added that Gray takes a heads-down approach to the game and lets his play speak for itself.

“He’s not going to talk a lot, he’s going to come to work, do his job, but at the same time, those are the guys you want on your team because you know that he’s going to do whatever it takes to win.”
