The Las Vegas Raiders held their first practice of the week on Thursday, preparing for their Week 11 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football. Subsequently, the Raiders also released their first injury report ahead of the matchup with the Cowboys, and got good news when it comes to quarterback Geno Smith and guard Dylan Parham.
Smith suffered a quad injury last Thursday versus the Denver Broncos, and told ESPN’s Ryan McFadden: “I’m not completely healed yet, but it feels a lot better.” Despite those comments, the quarterback wasn’t listed on the injury report, suggesting he was a full participant in practice. In a similar situation, Parham (ankle) also got banged up in Denver and was listed as a full participant.
So, it sounds like the mini bye week was just what the Raiders needed, and Parham being healthy is especially significant since the offense will already be down one starting guard with Jackson Powers-Johnson landing on injured reserve earlier this week. Rookie Caleb Rogers is expected to replace Powers-Johnson, with Alex Cappa and Will Putnam serving as backups/other options.
Additionally, Las Vegas only had one player sit out of Thursday’s practice session: rookie linebacker/special teamer Cody Lindenberg with an Achilles. Wide Receiver Tyler Lockett (knee) was also listed but was a limited participant.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys also had a few players return to the field this week. Linebacker DeMarvion Overshown and rookie cornerback Shavon Revel have yet to play this season after suffering significant knee injuries a year ago. However, Overshown and Revel were activated recently and were full participants in practice.
Safety Malik Hooker (toe) and defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey (back) were designated to return and had their 21-day practice windows open, but have not officially been activated. Hooker was limited while Winfrey was a full participant on Thursday. On top of that, starting guard Tyler Smith (knee) and starting defensive end Dante Fowler (shoulder) were limited.
