The Bills hit a home run for the ages when they drafted Josh Allen
The New York Jets are a mess. After firing head coach Robert Saleh earlier this season, the team announced the firing of general manager Joe Douglas. Now, reports have come out that after Week 4, owner Woody Johnson wanted to bench quarterback Aaron Rodgers in an attempt to wake up the team.
Watching this specific brand of chaos has made me further appreciate the Buffalo Bills and their decision to select quarterback Josh Allen in the 2018 NFL Draft. Allen has provided stability at the league’s biggest position, and he’s the NFL’s active leader in consecutive starts by a quarterback. To this point in his career, the only games Allen has missed came during his rookie season.
With it a near guarantee that Allen will lead the offense week in and week out certainly makes it easier to manage a roster. That’s specially the case with Allen putting up impressive numbers and helping orchestrate wins each week.
It’s fair to say that the rest of the AFC East isn’t operating with the same quarterback opportunities as One Bills Drive. The Miami Dolphins do have Tua Tagovailoa, but repeated injuries and future injury concern have limited his potential. The New England Patriots are trying to reinvent themselves at the position after failing to do so with Mac Jones. And those Jets. It’s a mess, and Aaron Rodgers needs to be shouldering a ton of the blame — as well those who gave him carte blanche to build the roster.
The bye week is upon us, so we thought it would be fun to list list off every starting quarterbacks the rest of the AFC East has gone through since Josh Allen took command of the herd at One Bills Drive.
