The Bengals are adding to the staff.
The Cincinnati Bengals have had a busy offseason on the coaching front as they look to replace a few coaches in some key areas.
Obviously, the big hire was Al Golden taking over as the new defensive coordinator, but there have been a few reports about some support staff coaches that have been added to the defensive side of the ball as well.
Jerry Montgomery was announced as the team's new defensive line coach a few weeks back, and now Montgomery has confirmed the report of Mike Moon joining the staff.
John Brice from Football Scoop first released the report of Moon’s hiring, saying he was hired back in January, but some questions were surrounding his position.
During his time this week on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham, Montgomery gave some insight into Moon’s position on staff.
“I tell you what, it’s definitely time-consuming. But, you know, they give you deadlines on when certain things you know need to be done, so you prioritize it by that,” Montgomery said. “And to be honest with you, we’ve got a young man by the name of Mike Moon that’s been here, that’s been able to help with the process. He’ll be helping out with the front, so it’s been nice to have his help.”
Things are starting to come together on the defensive side of the ball when it comes to the coaching staff. They will be tasked with some huge expectations this season as the Bengals look to return to the NFL Playoffs. Let’s hope all these reunions help the chemistry from the jump.
