Jerry Jones Says He is Not Experiencing a Biden-Esque Cognitive Decline

Screamin A Smith went on First Take this week and expressed concern for Jerry Jones’ ability to lead the Cowboys, comparing the 82-year-old owner to Joe Biden before the President dropped out of the 2024 race.

Jerruh, however, says he is fine.

He did his weekly radio hit with whatever that station is in Dallas, and Brandon Contes at Awful Announcing transcribed a couple of the quotes:

“Stephen A. is a fraud in a positive sense and I’m smiling. We are friends,” Jones claimed. “And I am having huge support and huge input and help from everyone he mentioned in that call about stepping in. But I would say if he had asked me that question relative to the issue or the criticism that Biden had about his ability to function, I wish he would follow me around every day. And he would see that I’m the busiest I’ve ever been in my life.

“I’m not concerned about the ability to do the work, to do the job. I just made a quick 14-hour trip back and forth to New York yesterday for a league meeting. But my point is that – Stephen A. – and I’d love to have him just sit beside us for a day and make the rounds and have him listen to me field the calls and do the kinds of things we do and he wouldn’t be worried about me there. But I do appreciate his concern. And by the way, it is genuine.”

Dunno. What explanation other than cognitive decline explains giving Dak Prescott a $240 million contract? Or building an east/west facing stadium that puts sunlight directly in your players’ eyes? Or allowing CeeDee Lamb to hold out over the summer instead of being proactive and getting a deal done? Or trading for Jonathan Mingo during a lost season in which the franchise QB was just ruled out for the year? Jerry might be totally physically capable. He might be Trumpian in the sense that he has a lot of vigor, and energy, and constitution, not our country’s legal framework, but a measure of an individual’s vitality and strength. You can be 82 years old and fly around the country and do interviews and all of that, but can you make the right football decisions? The answer is no. But we don’t want anyone to force Jerry out. He deserves the dignity and respect and should be allowed to GM the Cowboys for at least another 10-15 years, minimum.
