Ahead of a Monday Night Football showdown with the New England Patriots, New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart didn’t shy away from talking about the Giants’ recently fired head coach, Brian Daboll.
“It sucked,” Dart said of Daboll’s firing. “I have a lot of love for Coach Dabes, and we’re really close, so to kind of see it go down that way, especially my rookie year, it was hard. … I wish we could have done more as his players to get more wins for him.”
Dart has overcome franchise drama during his rookie season to establish himself as a rising talent in the National Football League. Entering Monday’s Week 13 battle, Dart has a passer rating of 93.5 this season with 1,417 yards, 10 touchdowns and 3 interceptions in nine games played.
Dart has dealt with concussion issues during his rookie campaign, but he was announced as Monday night’s starter on Saturday after clearing the NFL’s concussion protocol the day prior.
The Patriots, meanwhile, will be seeking their 11th win of the season and to solidify their lead atop the AFC East. This promises to be a much more competitive and interesting game than one would think between a 10-2 team and a 2-10 team, especially in light of New England’s recent injuries.
