Insiders Offers Update on DK Metcalf’s Injury

DK Metcalf’s overnight stay in Baltimore wasn’t because of sickness. The Pittsburgh Steelers’ No. 1 receiver was held back and was checked at a nearby hospital after his team’s win over the Ravens because of stomach pains. NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported that Metcalf absorbed a tough blow during his best game in black and gold so far.

“DK Metcalf took a hard shot during the game and the goal was to rule out any significant internal injuries,” Rapoport wrote Monday on X. “It’s too early to tell how Metcalf’s status for the #Steelers MNF game vs. the #Dolphins will be affected. But the extra day helps.”

Metcalf had seven receptions for 148 yards in the Steelers’ 27-22 win, including a 52-yard grab from Aaron Rodgers on the team’s first play from scrimmage. Rodgers wound up capping that march with a 1-yard touchdown run, his first in nearly three calendar years.

“I thought it was a busted play at first, and then I saw him run to the sideline, so I just started cheering,” Metcalf said afterward. “Yeah, my boy still is a dual-threat quarterback.”

Metcalf leads the Steelers with 52 receptions for 753 yards and five touchdowns this season.
