NORWOOD, Mass. — The Patriots were ultimately fine with letting members of their last coaching staff find new jobs, but one departure stung more than others.
Mike Pellegrino has a lot of fans at One Patriot Place.
Jonathan Jones is one of them, sharing just how much he respected his former position coach in an interview with NESN.com on Saturday.
“My guy! Mike is a heck of a coach, just a heck of a guy. I always say that he has a unique ability to make relationships with guys who come from different backgrounds,” Jones said. “You wouldn’t think this short guy from Long Island, a man with this bold personality — he just found a way to connect with everybody. He’s going to carry that with him, but now he’s over on enemy lines – but no matter where Mike is, he’s going to be successful. He’s just a hard-working guy.”
Pellegrino spent a decade in New England, but moved on to join the Buffalo Bills for 2025. The Patriots replaced him with Justin Hamilton.
Jones will be a free agent this offseason, though, so there’s at least a small chance the two could reunite.
